Yup, we're in North Carolina

Saturday morning, during a lull in our yard sale, Matthew asked me to go get us some breakfast. It was about 9am and we were getting pretty hungry! So, I drove to the local BBQ place that has nice biscuits, but they were closed on Saturday morning. Go figure. So, being in North Carolina and seeing that where we live is still rather rural, where did I go next? THE GAS STATION! Yup, most of the rural gas stations around here have little hot food counters, so I went and got two sausage biscuits (one with cheese) and two orange juices for $5. What a deal! And they weren't half bad, either.

Doubly blessed

First, it appears I neglected to post that our house sold! The people who saw it the first day put in a bid and we accepted! Woo hoo! Now to find a place to live for 2 months and get moved out by Dec. 22!

And on that note, after we accepted the bid we realized if we didn't do our yard sale this past weekend, we'd be right on top of Christmas and that'd be too late. So, we were out at 7am Saturday morning in 27 degree weather, and lo and behold people showed up!! We made a little over $450, which is outstanding for a two person yard sale with no children's stuff. What a blessing!

I broke the bed!!

Last night, Matthew was on the bed surfing the web on the laptop, so I decided to climb up behind him and look on. That put me on the corner of the bed. Apparently, the leg near the top of the bed (the one that's on a bar that spans the width of the mattress) wasn't stable, and I guess I put too much force on one corner of the bed, because it gave way!! Down I went, right onto the floor. The leg snapped it's bar off the frame, but the bar and the bed were still pretty well intact.

So, since we didn't have the guest bed clean, I was afraid the bed would collapse further and crush the cats who all gathered under it to see what was going on, and it was already 1am, Matthew had the bright idea of using the car jack to jack up and hold the bar! He figured if it could hold up a Jeep Grand Cherokee, why not hold up a bed? So, he jacked the bar with the leg back into place, and it's holding our mattress up as we speak!

Our house is on the market!

Our house went on the market FINALLY yesterday, and was actually shown Friday afternoon!

If anyone is curious, here it is! http://www.hpw.com/SearchPages/Detail.aspx?MlsNum=836502

We'll miss you, Al

Matthew and I were very saddened to learn of the sudden death of Mr. Al Steiner of Bangkok, Thailand this past Saturday, Nov. 26. Al was an amazing servant of the Lord at ECB and the International Community School of Bangkok. He was so much fun to be with when we were in Bangkok, wore the most cheerful brightly colored crazy shirts, took great care of us and made us his friend. We join his family in grieving this loss, and although we know he's with the Lord now, we're so very sad we won't see him again this side of heaven.

From the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
