More Malia-isms

Since I can't think of anything else to write about right now I thought I'd catalog some Malia-isms (I think I'm getting sick and I want to curl up under my desk and sleep!). When in doubt, write about the cute kid, right?

1. "Pizza Dragon" == Pete's Dragon
2. Cindalella (guess)
3. "Gickey Mouse, I HERE!" (yelled as we exited the train on arrival at Hong Kong Disneyland - and yes, she calls him Gickey Mouse)
4. "Yep, that's about right" (said as she was playing with a measuring tape and measuring my legs while riding a bus)

Isn't she pretty?

Pho the Foster Kitty

To help cope with my kitty withdrawal while Jasmine and Scrappy are on holiday in Wisconsin, we've started fostering kitties. This is our first foster kitty, Pho:

He's a beautiful boy, but still doesn't know what to think of us. Only took him 2 days to come out of hiding though, which totally beat Scrappy who hid for TEN at the Teschan's back in May!

public transportation

Does anyone know why in HK people on busses don't move to empty seats? Logically speaking, if someone comes down off the top deck where there is no standing, there's a seat free. So, why keep standing and crowding up the lower deck? Or, if you're sharing a two-fer seat, why not move to a free one when available? People move on the subway to a seat, so why not on the bus?

OK, so I really should pick this up again

I find more and more lately that my facebook status just isn't enough space to really chronicle what I'm thinking about. I'd like to think that someone out there would want to read it, but in the end I think a lot of us blog so we can see our lives unfold in a documented way.

So, today I'm wearing girlie shoes. 3-4 inch sandal wedges. My feet are going wuh-huh?????? since I generally just wear flip-flops. But, being back in an office I find I need nicer footwear. All in all, they're suprisingly comfortable seeing they're from Payless and I've never worn them before. Granted, I probably look like Malia walking around in my shoes for all the stability I have in heels, but these feel way better than stilettos! :-)

Malia has decided that it is "Pizza Dragon" and not "Pete's Dragon." I just love that. She also says a lot lately "that's strange" and, when eating, "that's delicious!" Just cracks me up. She's registered for K1 now at Cumberland Presbyterian Church Green Pasture Kindergarten here in Tung Chung: http://www.gpkg.edu.hk/home2.php. It's taught in Cantonese. Should be interesting. She is so darn excited, she can hardly contain herself. Too bad it doesn't start until September 1.
